Different Formats

Each module contains a workbook for you to take away and work through at your own pace. It accompanies you on your journey of finding the right system regulation practices that work for you.

 

The printed materials are in pastel colours for visual sensitivity as well as black and white to keep costs down for those who wish to print.

 

There are audio and video resources to help with different types of learning, symptom management and sensitivities.

Where particular needs are identified in advance, the formats will be tailored wherever possible.

Group Support Sessions

FND is so commonly misunderstood and often our experiences that accompany this lead to us not feeling shamed or dismissed.

FND Wellbeing endeavours to provide an platform of understanding and a safe environment for discussion and exploration within small group work. This enables the content and support to be tailored towards the needs and requirements of participants.

Week 1 - Introduction and getting to know your nervous system

- An introduction to the course structure and overview of the key topics 

- The anatomy of the Nervous System, the vagus nerve and what it regulates

- Why regulating your nervous system is important for people with FND

Week 2 - Neuroception & Safety Perception

- An in-depth exploration of neuroception's role in nervous system states

- Practical neuroception exercises for a felt sense of safety and regulation

- Practical techniques and tools for grounding and calming the nervous system

Week 3 - Exteroception & the Environment

- The perception of environmental stimuli originating outside of the body, 

- Unpacking exteroception's influence on sensory experiences

- Relating the external environment to nervous system responses/triggers

- Practical strategies and tools for sensory and environmental triggers

Week 4 - Interoception & Proprioception

- Understanding the influence of interoception and proprioception on nervous system responses

- Dipping gently into the realm of internal signals and emotions for a mindful self-connection

- Using interoception and proprioception exercises to begin emotional regulation

Week 5 - The Window of tolerance and emotional regulation

- Understanding the window of tolerance and emotional states

- Techniques to gently expand the window for vagal flexibility and better regulation

- Techniques and tools to help with emotional regulation

Week 6 - Creative Expression for the Nervous System

- Introduction to creative expression as a tool for nervous system regulation.

- An exploration of various creative outlets

- Understanding how creative expression engages the vagus nerve 

- Creating resource tools for nervous system regulation and wellbeing

Week 7 - Social Engagement and Connection

- Understanding the impact of social connections on nervous system states.

- Strategies and techniques for building positive social interactions and support systems

- Techniques for expanding the window of tolerance through social engagement

Week 8 - Putting your unique toolkit together

- Complete a personalised collection of strategies, tools and techniques to support your own unique nervous symptom and FND management toolkit
