✨ Introducing Brodie

Our First Volunteer!

Me_Website.jpg

Hey everyone! I’m Brodie and I’ve just joined FND Wellbeing as a volunteer, so thought I’d write a little something to introduce myself and the work I’ll be doing.

I have a keen interest in supporting people and have worked in youth work, homelessness, social work, drug and alcohol recovery, and now as a clinical supervisor.

Why FND Wellbeing you ask? Well, about five years ago, after a horrifically stressful period, I started to develop FND symptoms that led to me being unable to walk unaided.

After what felt like an age of dealing with these life-altering and scary symptoms and trying to navigate through a healthcare system that is simply not built for us, I stumbled across FND Wellbeing.

For the first time since developing symptoms, I felt the relief of understanding and being part of a community and saw, through Kerryn, that things can get better. In short, as I start to gradually feel better, I would love to be a part of the reason that someone else feels they are not alone and that things can improve.

As amazing a job as she does, there is only one of Kerryn (boo!) and, as I’m sure you can imagine, the positive impact FND Wellbeing has could reach more of us with more hands on deck.

Amongst other bits, I’ll be working on the development of support for families, friends and carers and getting feedback from the community on what’s working well and what could be tweaked.

I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in and speaking to people. If you’re a family member, friend, or carer who’d like to help shape future support — or if you’re part of the community with ideas, questions, tips, feedback or stories to share — get in touch at support@fndwellbeing.com. I’d really love to hear from you.

Love and light,

Brodie

🔦 What's Been Happening

🚶‍♂️ Taking Steps Forward with FND Starting Steps

Insta Promo.jpg

Our October Starting Steps group has just wrapped up — and what a month it’s been! This course continues to be a supportive space for those newly navigating life with FND, as well as for those wanting to refresh their understanding and confidence.

Having the right tools, knowledge, and resources can make all the difference — not only in understanding FND, but in beginning to support yourself day-to-day and navigate healthcare with more clarity and confidence.

What October's participants have said:

💬 "Navigating healthcare interactions has to be one of the biggest challenges that can go along with FND. Kerryn shares some really effective approaches in this course."

💬 "The resources have been amazing. Really helpful."

💬 " The advocacy and language skills did it for me. The outcome I got from my appointments was completely different to what I usually get."

The next Starting Steps intake begins 12 January 2026 — a gentle way to begin the new year with understanding, direction, and connection.

✨ Our Community Connections

🌼 Wellbeing Wednesdays

Hands Up_edited_edited.jpg

This month’s sessions have taken us from slowing down to grounding — and even to reimagining our lawns of life! Each week brought gentle reflection, laughter, and the steady reminder that healing happens in the small, kind moments we give ourselves.

Here's what we've explored together.

🐢 The Art of Slow: Kindness, Rest & Gentle Recovery
We explored what it means to slow down, listen to our nervous system, and find calm through rest and self-kindness.

🌀 Dissociation & FND: Understanding, Grounding & Reconnection
Together, we unpacked what dissociation really is, how it shows up, and grounding tools to help reconnect with the body and present moment.

🌱 The Lawn Mower Session: Growth, Rest & Wild Patches
A creative, light-hearted session designing our own “lawns” played with metaphors of growth, joy, rest, learning it’s okay to let some patches wild

💬 Connect & Chat
Our final session of the month continues to be a space of bravery, vulnerability, and heartfelt connection — a reminder that none of us walk this path alone.

"Thanks for today’s session. It was so interesting and great to hear from others in the community."

🖍️ Neurographic Art

Neurographic Art

Reminder: The next Neurographic Art session is on:

Sunday 02 November at 7pm.

It's a chance to catch up, chat, and doddle away allowing your subconscious mind to wander and flow on to paper. It's a great way to explore things through non-verbal expression and understanding.

"Wow, that's really made me think about things differently. I've always struggled with this and now I havea really different way of looking at things."

NeuroFlow Announcement!

💫 NeuroFlow: Nervous System Regulation

Designer.jpg

I have taken the decision to pause new enrolments for the popular NeuroFlow course. I recognise that some of you may be disappointed, but it's not going away - it's evolving!

NeuroFlow is being reimagined into smaller, bite-sized courses to make learning and nervous system regulation more accessible and flexible for you.

These new programmes will offer focused, practical steps you can take at your own pace — while keeping the same supportive, FND-informed approach you’ve come to expect from FND Wellbeing.

If you’d like to be the first to know when these new versions are released, please register your interest by clicking the button below.

Thank you for your understanding and for being part of our community as we continue to grow and evolve together.

🌿 This Month's Wellbeing Tip

🍂 Autumn Pacing —
Finding Balance in the Season of Change

Bench on Autumn Leaves

As the seasons shift, nature reminds us that slowing down isn’t stopping — it’s wisdom.

Just like trees shed their leaves to protect energy for the months ahead, pacing helps us do the same.

Think of your energy across 8 types of fatigue — physical, mental, emotional, sensory, environmental, social, relational, and cognitive.

When one area drains, the others often follow. This season, try a gentle check-in:

🍁 1, 2, 3 - The Autumn Pacing Pause

1️⃣ Notice: Where am I feeling the most fatigue today? (Body? Brain? Emotions? Sensory? Relationships?)

2️⃣ Nurture: What helps my nervous system settle rather than push through?

  • Swapping noise for quiet time in a dim space

  • Pausing after a conversation or screen time before doing the next thing

  • Using grounding textures — a blanket, weighted wrap, or gentle pressure

  • Letting movement be slow and mindful rather than forcing momentum

3️⃣ Soothe: Bring in a sensory pause — soften the lighting, wrap up in something warm, listen to gentle sounds, breathe in a calming scent. Allow your body to feel safe enough to rest.

🌳 This month, let your pacing mirror the trees: release what you don’t need, and find comfort in simple sensory stillness.

... and just to say ...

💙 You don't have to do this alone!

Picture of Kerryn with medium length brown hair

FND can feel incredibly isolating and overwhelming - where do you even start?

Often we can feel like we are the only one in the world that this is happening too, nobody arounds seems to understand, and yet there is a whole community of people with this condition that you can connect with.

Sometimes our worry and anxiety can get in the way - along with our brain fog and functionality. Group interaction can seem too much to engage with - at times we can't even speak.

If that's you, reach out and connect with me. You don't have to do this alone.
